The Brief
A full renovation of a Victorian terraced house in the heart of Kensington, carefully balancing structural ambition with period sensitivity. Works included a double-storey light-well infill extension, construction of a new bay window, and construction of new lift shaft, each designed to feel as though they had always been part of the original building. Internally and externally, every element was refurbished to the highest standard, honouring the property’s heritage while meeting the demands of contemporary living.

The primary goal was to preserve the character of the property throughout, retaining all its distinctive period features. The new bay window was carefully designed and constructed so that every new element would seamlessly match the original fabric of the building.
The most significant structural challenge was building new lift shaft across five floors to meet current building regulations, while preparing it for the installation of a new lift. This required precise engineering and close coordination to ensure full compliance without compromising the integrity of the surrounding structure.
